Does Vastu Matter When You’re Buying a House?

Vastu, or Vastu shastra, literally means the science of architecture, this is a traditional Indian system of architecture and has been around for thousands of years. The aim is to build a home that is a great balance of architecture and nature. This does not hold good only for individual houses, but for the overall building as well, Vastu is also applicable to towns, cities, gardens, roads, waterworks, shops and other public areas.

Is Vastu a Science or a Concept?

This is a debate that has been happening for centuries, there is always an argument as to if it is just superstition or if there is actually any science behind it. Many believe that as there is no logical connection between Vastu and the environment, it is nothing but pseudoscience.

Most architects, however, use what they learnt from Vastu as guidelines during construction. If they are used as flexible guidelines rather than rigid rules, space, sunlight, flow and function of the house or building are all taken care of.
