As January is the first month of the year, it’s a great time to make some changes from Feng Shui perspective to your home to invite more positivity. If you’re wondering what changes you can make, we’re here to introduce you to Feng Shui and the effect it can have on your life and home.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is all about chi or energy and how we need to balance the energy within us with the energy at home.

Feng Shui Home

Feng Shui will teach you how to balance chi as well as help chi to flow smoothly through your house. Apart from chi, you also need to understand the elements -  Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. Each element has to be understood in terms of its colour, shape and texture. The last power principle you need to pay attention to is the Bagua. This is nothing but a chart that’s used to indicate the best places to locate the objects and colours that represent the 5 elements.

Small changes that you can make in your Home using Feng Shui-

Feng Shui for Your Home's Main Door

As the door is the first and last thing you connect with in your home you must see to it that it opens inwards, it should be larger and grander than the other doors in your home, it should be made of wood and should never squeak when you open or shut it.

Feng Shui Home - Your Living Room

While placing your sofa in the living room place it against a wall, leaving a little bit of space between the wall and the sofa. Arrange all the seating options in an intimate manner, not miles apart from each other. Keep in mind that squares represent earth; rectangles - wood; triangles – fire; round and oval objects - metal. A living room is most harmonious if it includes all the elements. If you move one of your favourite items to a prominent position, you’ll feel joy every time you see it.

Feng Shui Home - Your Bedroom

It’s important to have a bedroom that has balanced masculine and feminine characteristics. Your bed should never face the door, yet you should have a good view of it. Leave space on either side of the bed so that you don’t have to climb over someone to get into bed. Avoid having PCs and TVs in the bedroom, these emit energy that can disrupt your sleep. If you do have a TV in the bedroom, cover it with a scarf or cloth before going to bed. Remember, your bedroom should be a safe haven and a place you can unwind in.

We hope these small changes can bring in the positivity that you need for the year ahead. Reach out to us if you would like to know more Feng Shui tips and tricks. If you feel that you need a home with better energy, let NoBroker find the right home for you!
