It’s time to plan those weekend getaways and make an escape to the mountains for a short while. Soak in the cool breeze, go hiking and sip on copious amounts of coffee and tea. Sigh... doesn’t it sound wonderful? If you’re looking for weekend getaways from Bangalore within 300 km. these are the places to go to

Coorg (250 km. from Bangalore)

The hilly town of Coorg is also known as the coffee capital of India. Take a tour through coffee plantations, sip on fragrant, freshly ground coffee and experience time standing still. Coorg and its surroundings offer several homestays for you to choose from. I would always suggest a homestay for the amazingly delicious Coorg meals. Apart from the great food, I would say the town is just picturesque and takes you back in time.

Kabini (150 km. from Bangalore)

This is perhaps the closest place that offers a cool haven for Bangaloreans. Kabini is located on the banks of the river of the same name. It’s a great place especially for wildlife enthusiasts as you can spot leopards, panthers, sambhar deer, spotted deer, and cheetals. Choose from exotic resorts and jungle lodges to have a time filled with relaxation and spurts of excitement.

Yercaud (230 km.)

The lake town of Yercaud is located in the district of Salem. Its beauty comes from the fact that it’s surrounded by the Eastern Ghats, in other words, you’re surrounded by greenery. This is a place for those looking to relax and drown out your everyday problems. There aren’t many touristy activities, which means you get more time to relax. Known for coffee and an abundance of fruit trees, Yercaud is a pretty place to indulge in banter while admiring a scenic backdrop.

Coonoor (285 km)

Amongst the farthest in our picks, Coonoor is a quaint hill town close to the touristy destination - Ooty. Find yourself surrounded by plush greenery and tea gardens. Spend your time trekking through treacherous trails or take the narrow gauge hill train to view some breath-taking scenery.

Masinagudi (240 km)

Located in the Mudumalai National Park and Tiger Reserve, Masinagudi is home to protected species like the Bengal Tiger and Indian leopard. A must-see for wildlife enthusiasts, this is a getaway for the adventurous amongst us. Spend a weekend in the forest, spotting tigers and unwinding, you’re sure to want to come back here.

Nice blog. Love all images. Bangalore is a lot different from most other cities in the country, Bangalore has a distinct charm of itself. The city has been lucky to have received the first waves of modernization and also the first impetus of commercialization. Having fun with family and friend is one of the ideal ways to get rid of stress and tension.
