The Most Important Precautions to Take After the Lockdown
Table of Contents
As we make our way back to normal life, there are still things we need to be cautious about. We still need to do our best to stay safe and protect ourselves, as well as those around us.
We can no longer be carefree and act like things are back to normal, they are far from that. But we also can’t halt life, we need to get back to our regular routine, but keeping safety and our health in mind. Here are a few precautions that you need to take from now on –
- Wear a mask when you are out of the house. Even if it is going for a walk inside your building society, you should wear a mask.
- Avoid social gatherings. It’s very tempting to catch up with all the people you missed during the lockdown, but don’t meet in groups. Try as much as possible to catch up via phone calls or video calls.
- Make and carry a safety kit. Much like a first aid kit, a safety kit needs to have basics such as-
- A face cover – this will help stop you from touching your face when you’re out.
- Hand sanitizer – a must when you are going out, be it work or otherwise.
- Hand soap – If you’re going out and the place has a soap bar, it is better to use your own soap.
- Gloves – This is needed when you are touching high contact surfaces like lift buttons, ATMs etc.
- Toilet seat sanitizer and tissue papers – if you are using the restroom at work or anywhere outside, then you need to have these two items with you.
- Tissue – if you have a cold or an allergic cough/sneeze, be on the safe side and cover your mouth with a tissue each time you cough. You also need to throw the tissue in the bin as soon as possible.
- Don’t take shared rides in cabs or autos. Sit at the back seat and keep your mask on, especially in a cab.
- Try and spend less time on the roads, especially if you don’t have your own transport. Speak to your company to find out if you can travel during non-peak hours.
- If you’re using public transport like trains, metros, and buses, use gloves when you’re holding on to railings and dealing with money. Use e-wallets and passes as much as possible to avoid touching money. If you can’t avoid it, then use sanitizer as soon as you do.
- Avoid crowded lifts, take the stairs or wait for the next lift. If you are using the stairs or an escalator, don’t touch the railing.
- At work, ensure that you have tissue and a sanitizer on your desk. As soon as you get to work, wipe down your desk, mouse, keyboard and screen with a sanitizer or alcohol rub.
- Make sure there is enough distance between you and your colleague when you are at your workstation. There should be a minimum of 6 feet distance between you and the next person.
- If you need to have meetings, try to have them over calls, especially if it is for groups of over 5 people.
- Reduce the amount of paper you use, send documents digitally and have an e-signature. This will cut down the amount of paper you come in contact with.
- If you have your meals in the office, ensure to carry your own cutlery at least. Avoid using shared cutlery.
- When you get back home, wash your hands immediately. If possible, have a shower as soon as you get home.
- At home, clean and sanitize your home regularly. This article will help you with what to do.
- When possible, get professionals to come in and sanitize your home, apartment building and workplace. This needs to be done regularly until the number of cases is zero.
