Hi buddy. I recently bought a kilogram of distemper paint to paint my child's 150 square foot study room's wall. I heard a lot about this paint's reputation for being inexpensive and simple to apply. I wasn't sure if the entire wall would get covered or not, so I asked my painter 1 kg distemper cover how much area. He stated that 130 to 150 square feet area covered per kg of distemper.

What is the Distemper Coverage Per Kg?

The painter informed me that the distemper coverage area might change based on several variables, including the paint type, application technique, and wall texture.

  • More distemper may be needed to obtain complete coverage on walls with rough textures or those that require several coats of paint.

  • He added that some distemper brands can have higher pigment and binder concentrations. It would result in a greater covering area per kg of paint.

I chose to hire a painter from NoBroker based on my several colleague’s recommendations. In comparison to other contractors, I found their prices were reasonable. They charged me only Rs 10 per sq ft for painting my kid’s study room with distemper paint.

If you also want to calculate the cost of distemper painting per sq ft, then you must use the below formula:

Cost of distemper per sq ft = (Cost of distemper paint / Coverage area)

I hope you found this answer helpful.

“How much is the distemper paint coverage per litre?” These questions are usually asked when people plan a painting project.

The paint's spreading rate and the quantity of paint required to cover an area completely are the two factors that go into calculating paint coverage. As a general guideline, most paints have a spreading rate of 350 square feet per 4 litres of paint (or roughly 1 gallon), meaning that 350 square feet will be covered by 4 litres of paint.

How Much is 1 Litre Distemper Coverage Area Per Litre?

The composition and viscosity of distemper paint are far more aqueous than those of enamel, emulsion, or epoxy paints. This is due to the distemper paint's approximately 0.001-inch film thickness.

Distemper coverage per litre will therefore be between 130 and 150 square feet. When painting walls and ceilings in low-traffic areas like living rooms and bedrooms, where a heavy-duty finish is not required, distemper paints work great. Distemper paints, however, should not be applied to external surfaces because of their watery composition, which leaves them vulnerable to weathering effects.

Embarking on a painting project is always exciting, but the question of how much distemper is required for one room often looms large. Drawing from my own experiences as a DIY enthusiast, let's delve into the fascinating world of distemper coverage.

Understanding Distemper

Distemper is known for its porous nature and matte finish, making it a popular choice for interior walls. However, its coverage is influenced by factors like the texture of the surface, the number of coats, and the application method.

  • Surface Texture Matters: Smooth surfaces tend to require less distemper compared to textured ones. In my own painting endeavors, I've observed that a smooth, well-prepared wall allows the distemper to spread more evenly, maximizing coverage.

  • Number of Coats: The number of coats plays a pivotal role. While distemper is known for its opaque finish, applying multiple coats enhances the color richness and coverage. However, it also means the quantity needed for a specific area increases.

  • Application Method: Rolling, brushing, or spraying—each method influences the coverage. In my experience, using a roller has been efficient for even distribution, ensuring that the 1 KG of distemper covers a significant area.

  • Assessing Room Size: The size of the room is a fundamental factor in estimating distemper requirements. Larger rooms naturally demand more paint. From personal projects, I've found that a standard-sized room, roughly 10x12 feet, typically requires around 2 to 2.5 liters of distemper for a single coat.

  • Calculating Coverage: As a rule of thumb, 1 KG of distemper can cover approximately 80 to 100 square feet with a single coat. This estimation considers a standard smooth surface and moderate application thickness. For textured surfaces or additional coats, the coverage may decrease.

Oil-based and water-based (or dry) distemper are the two different forms of distemper paints. Distemper that is water-based is far less durable than emulsion and less durable even than the oil-based version. Distemper is economical and frequently used for rental buildings that require a new coat of paint each year.

1 liter distemper cover how much area:

It varies on a number of parameters, including the type of paint used, the area of the wall, and the wet and dry conditions. However, to provide you with an estimate, I would like to say that, 1 kg of oil-based distemper covers roughly 10 square metres, and 1 kg of water-based distemper covers approximately 14 square metres.

Please look to the package for the specific coverage region as the majority of brands list it there.

Oil-based distemper can release fumes that could be toxic, whereas water-based distemper is more environmentally friendly.

I would like to conclude here about 1 kg distemper cover how much area. I hope this helps:)
