Can I build a house on agricultural land in India?

If you are thinking about building a house on agricultural land you can do it but only for agricultural purposes. For example, you can build a cottage house or a farmhouse on agricultural land. 

  • The farm should not be more than 150 sqft.

  • In case the area of the plot is more than 0.6 hectares you can construct farms that do not exceed 400 sqft.

  • If you want to build a house for residential purposes you can build a house that should not exceed 150sqft.

Now, I must tell you that 150 sq ft is just the size of a small room. You cannot call it a house logically. I should let you know these are the eligibility criteria to build a house on agricultural land in Maharashtra.
