In Maharashtra, only agriculturists can purchase agricultural land. However, there are exceptions:

  • If either of your parents or grandparents is an agriculturist, you can also buy agricultural land.

  • Owning agricultural land elsewhere in India qualifies you as an agriculturist in Maharashtra.

Regarding your brother’s farmer status, it doesn’t directly transfer to you. But if you have relatives who are farmers, you can still buy agricultural land in Maharashtra.
