It is a custom in many Hindu traditions not to clean the pooja room on Saturdays. So the answer to your query, “Can I clean pooja room on Saturday?” is contradictory. Generally speaking, Saturdays are connected to Shani, or Saturn, who is considered to bring difficulties and trials. Because of this, some individuals abstain from important tasks like cleaning on this day out of respect for the notions around Shani's power. However, in my home it's the opposite. My parents prefer cleaning pooja room on Saturday.

Can We Clean Pooja Room on Saturday?

According to my mom, cleaning the pooja room on Saturday helps in receiving Shani Dev’s blessings. One can clean the room with a broom. As, a broom clears the air of bad energy and brings in good energy; nevertheless, purchasing a broom on a Saturday leads to poverty, therefore avoid buying a broom on Saturday or Tuesday.

This custom is followed in my family.

Now, if you're unsure, it could be helpful to speak with an experienced spiritual counsellor or family elder who can offer advice based on your unique traditions and beliefs.

Pooja room is considered to be the most sacred place in the home and cleaning it on a day governed by Lord Shani is believed to bring negativity and obstacles into one's life.

Cleaning the pooja room on Friday does not bring Kubera’s blessing. Lord Kubera is the God of  wealth. Scholars say that Goddess Lakshmi’s blessing does not come without Kubera’s grace, that is why we should not clean the pooja room on Friday if Kubera’s grace is to be upon us.

Auspicious days:

There are certain days that are considered to be auspicious for this task. According to Vastu, the best days to clean the pooja room are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These days are associated with the planets Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter, respectively, and are considered to be favourable. The Pooja room should not only be kept clean, but it should also be decorated with fresh flowers, diyas, and agarbatti.
