Yes, you can gift your property to someone who is not a family member in India. The process involves creating a gift deed, which is a legal document that formalises the transfer of ownership from the donor (you) to the donee (the recipient). I have shared the process on how to give a gift deed in non blood relation below for you.

Steps for Gifting a House to a Non Relative

Here are the key steps:

  • Prepare the gift deed on a non-judicial stamp paper of required value, including details of the donor, donee, and the property.

  • Both the donor and the donee must sign the deed in the presence of at least two witnesses.

  • Register the gift deed with the local sub-registrar's office to give it legal standing.

  • The donee must accept the gift during the lifetime of the donor.

Keep in mind that gifting property to non-family members may have tax implications for both the donor and the donee. It's advisable to consult a legal expert to ensure. I hope you found this helpful.

Can You Gift Property To a Friend

From what I know, you can gift an immovable property to anyone (family members or others) as long as the property has been registered as a registered gift deed signed by the donor and the donee and attested by two witnesses. Details about all of this can be found under Section 123 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882.
