• Water-based paints can loosen wallpaper if you don't prepare it properly, resulting in highlighting seams. This solution won't last long because paint makes wallpaper heavier.

• Last but not least, keep in mind that painting the vinyl wallboard may be the only option at times, particularly if it is firmly attached to the wall. It would probably make a lot of mess and possibly tear wall pieces if taken out.
