Hi Friend,

In short, do know that an NRI living in some foreign lands can buy a plot in India. His expenditure in such regard should abide by FEMA or Foreign Exchange Management Act but he can never buy any agricultural land. 

However if you are not an NRI or is non-Indian in origin, you cannot buy any land in India.
