When I joined the company, I had some confusion. One of them I asked my HR was

can I use joint account for salary account. Let me share that.

Salary accounts are opened by employers for their employees to receive the salary. It comes with certain benefits and features, such as zero balance requirements, lower fees, and special debit card offers.

Salary accounts are usually not intended to be joint accounts. However, some banks can allow you to convert your salary accounts into joint accounts. You can add a family member as a joint holder.

If you want to open a joint account, you can open a regular savings account or a joint savings account. It is specially designed for joint ownership. It can be opened with a spouse, parent, sibling, or any other eligible family member.

You can contact your bank to inquire about their specific offerings and the documentation required to open such an account.

Hope you have understood

I desperately needed a job during the Covid-19 crisis so started as a freelancer in graphic designing and was asked to provide my bank details. My father asked me to provide his bank details for the first time and later I became a joint account holder of that account. So the answer to:

can salary account be joint account is simply YES. But there are some terms and conditions levied which I will be glad to share to help you understand it better.

Can a salary account be a joint account?

I got to know that a spouse, child, parents or sibling can opt for a joint applicant to an account but no one other than these people can be a joint account holder. If you want a friend or colleague to be the joint account holder, sorry but there is no such provision. Just ask the manager to convert it and they will do it within a few days.

But there are few companies who ask their employees to provide their personal account details or else their salary will be kept on hold. If you are thinking- can joint account be used as salary account, let me tell you in general it is possible but ask your company if it is okay for them or not. Usually a freelancing employee does not need to have a private personal account mandatorily as was the case in mine and on the next month when I asked my manager can salary be credited to joint account, she said yes.

It is better to discuss these things forehand and then proceed.

This is all I can say to answer can salary account be joint account or not.
