I was aware that it is not allowed to have two active UANs at once. Each member should have a single UAN that is linked to all of his/her EPF accounts. I recently joined a new company. My previous organisation allotted a UAN number. However, I was a bit confused about: can I get new UAN number in my new job. I got to know that I will be provided with a new UAN and for this, the employer will have to log in to the EPF employer portal.

The finance team in my new company explained that if a company employs 20 people or more, the employer is required to obtain the UAN for a new employee entering the service industry. If the employee's previous employer assigned him a UAN, he must provide the new employer with the information.
