Around 2 months ago, I asked my grandfather, can we keep Kaal Bhairav idol in home. He said it is not advisable to keep Kaal Bhairav idol at home. He informed me that it should only be installed in a temple outside home. If you keep a Kaal Bhairav idol at home, this would bring vastu doshas which will impact all family members of the household.

My grandfather further said it completely depends on personal belief. Bhairav is the Ugra or a fierce form of Lord Shiva and so that form should not be worshipped at home. But he said we could worship a form called Batuk Bhairav. This form of Bhairav is a much calmer form and gives out wisdom and a peaceful atmosphere. You can do pujas and worship this form of Bhairav.
Kaal Bhairav is also worshipped at cremation grounds. This form of Shiva is sensitive and furious. However, he gives time to devotees who worship him with utmost belief and faith. But, my grandfather said it is better not to keep photos of Kaal Bhairav at home.
Ugra or Fierce Kaal Bhairav pictures should not be kept at home. He said this bhairav is the leading deity at a cremation ground. He has the hold over all negative and ghost elements like bhoot, pishachas and brahmarakshas so keeping this idol at home should be avoided.
Generally it is safer and more advisable to seek the worship of Kaal Bhairav at a temple and not at home. I hope you found this helpful.
