Mandir or pooja room is a holy place in the house. You definitely would wish to do everything right about it. It’s placement, decoration, cleanliness, interior, basically every aspect should align with the vastu shastra. So if you are in a space crunch and wondering can we keep mandir in bedroom, I have a solution for you.

Ideally, a mandir should be in the kitchen or living room in case you don’t have much space. But if that doesn’t work out, you can keep the mandir in the bedroom only in the northeast direction of the bedroom.

There are a few things which you must be careful of when making pooja room in the bedroom.

  • Make a platform like structure to set up a mandir in the bedroom.

  • You must not keep the premises dark, avoid using dark colours for wall painting.

  • While sleeping, your feet should not point towards the mandir.

I can understand that there can be a space issue as houses in India can have little space to offer, especially in big cities. I am sharing all the reasons why you should not have the pooja room in your bedroom. Also, I’ll share what you can do if you have to keep gods in your bedroom.

Is it Considered Good to Have a Mandir in Bedroom As Per Vastu?

Vastu Shastra says that you should not sleep in the space where pooja is performed. Moreover, you are not supposed to wear footwear in the pooja room, but in your bedroom, you tend to do this all the time. The pooja room is a sacred space, while the bedroom is your personal space. Hence, it is not advisable to have your pooja room in the bedroom.

But, if you are left with no option, but to have the pooja room in your bedroom, then make sure that the pooja space is in the northeast corner of the bedroom. Moreover, the walls should be white or cream in colour. This is all from my side.
