Can we keep mirror in pooja room?

Hello. I recently asked my friend, who is pursuing a Vastu course, where to place mirror in pooja room Vastu after renovations of my property. He informed me that a mirror should not be inside a pooja room. When I questioned why, he replied that it would bring negativity into the home. 

According to him, this is the place where you need a very peaceful and serene atmosphere in order to sit and meditate because the mirror greatly magnifies the surrounding energy. 

Moreover, my uncle, a Vastu expert, informed me that it is fortunate to place a mirror in a pooja room since it symbolises a fresh start. He said that we have seen mirrors in temples because they reflect positive energy from the four corners of the temples. But, he said it is best to avoid placing mirrors in pooja room or at the entrance of homes.

He informed me of the following reasons for not placing a mirror in front of god:

• Worshippers may find it difficult to concentrate on their prayers and meditations.

• You may lose focus and spiritual connection if you look at your reflection in the mirror instead of the gods and holy symbols.

• Placing a mirror in the pooja room could reflect evil energy.

In Vastu, mirrors play a vital role in the placement of a room or a house, they are considered to attract energy.However, when it comes to pooja rooms, I have had questions about mirror in pooja room. I will share my learning below so that you  can be cautious while placing mirrors.

Traditionally, it is believed that mirrors are not supposed to be kept in pooja rooms as they can distract the person praying. Experts believe that mirrors are not compatible with spiritual and religious activities.

However, if you wish to keep a mirror, you should  follow certain guidelines on keeping mirror in pooja room. The mirror should be placed in such a way that it does not reflect the deity or the pooja area. You should make sure  the mirror is kept clean and free from any cracks or damages as it can lead to negative energy.

Do not place mirrors on the ceiling of the pooja room.Never keep the two mirrors in the same direction together. You should opt for colours like white, cream, sky, light blue, light green, brown, etc and avoid red, dark orange, or dark pink frames. All mirrors must be framed in wood or metal. It's always good to take the advice from Vastu experts and consider the guidelines shared by them.
