During my house warming ceremony, I received two photographs of the same god. I decided to put them in my pooja room, but I had doubts can we keep two photos of same God in pooja room. So, I consulted a priest regarding the same and he informed me that they are all the same God, hence two images can be displayed in a home temple.
Should We Keep Two Pictures of the Same God?
He said it’s your choice how many idols and photos of God you want to keep in your home but, for a God’s temple it’s important to follow a certain set of rules according to the traditional beliefs.
You can choose to keep the trinity of Goddess - Durga, Laxmi, and Saraswati together. But make sure not to keep three idols of the same Goddess. It is believed to affect your wealth and prosperity negatively.
As mentioned in Hindu scriptures, you must not keep three Idols of Lord Ganesha as it is inauspicious for the house.
You have to be careful when you think of establishing Shivlings at home. If you cannot worship regularly it is advised not to have one at home. It will impact the spiritual practices.
It is advised to never keep these following Idols together:
Lord Krishna’s Idol with Radha and Rukmini
Lord Karthikeya’s Idol with two wives Valli and Devasena and,
Lord Ganesha’s Idol with Riddhi and Siddhi
About the divine trinity Lords - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh who are believed as supreme Gods, you must place them above all other Idols in your pooja room.
