Can We Use AC Without Servicing?

Since I am not permitted to install air conditioning in my rental apartment, I haven't used it for over a year. But, now that I've moved into my new home, I am worried can we use AC without servicing. I researched about the same and found that it is necessary to get AC serviced annually before using it. I also found that neglecting to service an AC can lead to a number of problems, which I have shared below.

Why You Shouldn't Skip AC Servicing?

An AC that isn't serviced may use more energy to cool your room. Let's look at what happens if you don't use your air conditioner for a longer period of time:

Increase Energy Consumption

I found that using an air conditioner without having it serviced might affect how much energy it uses. If an air conditioning unit is not serviced on a regular basis it needs more energy to cool the air. It will ultimately lead to higher electricity bills. 

Decreased Cooling Performance

The air conditioner may not be able to cool the air as well if any of its parts are dirty or not operating correctly due to a lack of servicing. This may cause the room to cool unevenly or insufficiently.

Potential Breakdowns

AC servicing assists in locating and resolving little issues before they become larger ones. Small problems like worn-out parts, refrigerant leakage, or electrical difficulties could go unreported and eventually cause the unit to break down if servicing is skipped.

Poor Air Quality

Poor air quality in the house can also be caused by ignoring the requirement for servicing. Allergens, dust, and debris can build up inside your AC unit and contaminate the air that runs through the system. 

For those who are susceptible to airborne particles in particular, this can aggravate allergies and cause respiratory problems.

Accumulation of Dust inside the AC unit

If your air conditioner is not used for an extended period of time, dust can accumulate inside of it. Consequently, it clogs the filters, reduces efficiency, and could lead to poor air quality.
