During our house painting, we had a small amount of gloss and emulsion paint left; hence, I asked the painter to mix them up and paint one of the living room walls for creativity. I was not sure about can you mix gloss and emulsion paint but our painter suggested that it could be done. You just have to mix gloss and emulsion paint by blending them thoroughly in equal parts.

How Can You Mix Emulsion With Gloss?

Mixing emulsion and gloss paint is possible but you need to be cautious and mix the right amount of both paints. Since emulsion is water-based and gloss can be oil-based, do check that both these paints are water-based or else they won’t mix properly. Once you check it,

  • Blend in small amounts of both of these paints first. It has to be a 50:50 mixture

  • The next step is very important. You will need to stir the solution thoroughly and create a consistent texture

  • Apply the paint to a small area to check whether the paint coat is adhering to the wall or not and add more paint if needed.

So this is how to mix two types of paints and check it’s consistency.
