A few months ago, I got my interior walls painted with the help of our local painter. However, I found the result not  as I expected, it turned out to have a bubble texture and dry spots. At this point I was not sure of what might have gone wrong, I started to think if it was because of the AC which I left on. I hence researched can you paint with the air conditioner on. I found that no, it is not recommended to paint with AC on because of several reasons, which I shared below.

.

Can You Paint with the Air Conditioner On?

I found that painting while the air conditioner is running is not advised as it may have a bad effect on the quality of the air. Apart from this, it can cause the following issues:

VOCs

I found that by keeping the air conditioner on while painting, the VOCs (volatile organic compound) are likely to be gathered in the air filters, the air ducts, and the gases can get trapped resulting in spoiling the indoor air of your house even after the painting process.

Dust Settling

The dust particles will rise up and settle on the wet painted surface if the AC is used for drying.

Drying the Paint

The final appearance of the paint can be affected when you turn on the air conditioner, as it changes the vapourization of the paint leading to uneven drying or hasty drying.

Ventilation Issues

Without enough ventilation the air will be recirculated in the house by the AC trapping harmful chemicals. I found turning on the exhaust fan and keeping the windows and doors open will spread the paint gas out by bringing fresh air.

Weak Bonding

If you want the paint to stick well which smoothens the surface then you have to let the paint dry naturally and avoid altering the temperature from the AC.

I hope this information helps you to have a safe and successful painting process.

Is painting with air conditioner on good?

A common misunderstanding is that you shouldn't paint when your air conditioner is on. This view is based on the fact that you ruined your paintings much more while the air conditioner was on. Similar to when you paint without any air conditioners, it is terrible. Additionally, you may set the winds and temperatures using other household gadgets. You're more likely to make mistakes with each painting touch if you set up the wind powers too strongly. It can also happen if the wind degrees stick to your paints, regardless of the temperature outside or within your rooms.

Such things won't be relevant if there are more individuals staying in your rooms. In other words, depending on how many people are in your rooms, you can change the wind speeds and degrees of wind flow. If you turn on the air conditioning, more people equals a hotter temperature. So, you might wish to increase the wind power to between 60 and 65 percent. Ensure the wind doesn't come to your painting places, and watch out for people gathering there all at once.

How do you keep a room ventilated when painting?

Thankfully, it's easy to maintain a space properly ventilated when painting with the following techniques:

  • Maintain an open window and door.

  • Keep the air circulating by using fans.

  • Improve cross ventilation.

  • Keep the area open for at least three days after painting.

  • Watch out for vents that go to adjacent spaces or buildings.

  • Take pauses as you paint.

Can we fit AC in kitchen?

You may use an air conditioner in your kitchen to keep it cool but only if you place it far from the cooking stove and utilise a kitchen chimney above the stove. It is advised to maintain the kitchen's temperature at around 26 to 28 degrees Celsius all the time with a small air conditioner. Cooking is ideal at this moderate temperature.
