Well, there are different zoning laws for different types of properties. Zoning is a form that has been around us for a period of a hundred years. It is tough to tell what to do in property not zoned for residential use since the rules and regulations vary from state to state or even from town to town. Just because an office space offers an apartment or living space that doesn’t mean that space can be legally used for residential purposes. So, check with the local planning office to ensure you have all the permits required.
Although there may not be any zoning laws for renting a commercial space for living, your landlord might impose their own rules in the agreement. So, living in a rented office or a studio space is not the wisest idea.
If you get caught buying a commercial space and living in it you may need to pay a hefty fine depending on the zonal law of your town and space.
If you live in a commercial space your landlord might send you an eviction notice.
So, it’s better to not live in a commercial space. Also, it’s not a healthy sign to live somewhere where you work.
