My textured walls were getting old, and I wanted to give them a fresh look by covering them with a wallpaper. The question, “Can you wallpaper textured walls?” was moving in my mind. A lot of people had this question because they were unsure of how well a wallpaper would stick to the uneven surfaces. After doing some more research, I found out some ways on how to do it.

Can You Wallpaper Over Textured Walls?

  • I gave the walls a thorough cleaning to get rid of any dust or grime before I started. This was very important since any dirt could interfere with how well the wallpaper adheres.

  • I knew I would need to use a strong wallpaper glue because my walls were textured, and thus rough. Using a paint roller, I directly applied the glue to the wall, covering all of the textured areas. This made a stable foundation for the wallpaper to stick to so that it doesn’t peel off easily.

  • I then measured my wallpaper and cut it into manageable strips. Ensured that each strip was a little bit longer than necessary to take care of any unevenness because of the texture.

  • I began in one corner and applied the wallpaper, pressing it firmly against the wall.

  • To get rid of any air bubbles and make sure it stuck firmly to the rough surface, I used a smoothing tool.

  • Took my time aligning the designs and cutting off anything extra at the edges as I worked on each strip. The texture made the process a little difficult, but it was satisfying to see it all finally come together.

So finally, the result of applying wallpaper over textured walls was really good. My walls are even more lively now, and the wallpaper is not peeling off. You just have to make sure to use a good quality glue and then put the wallpaper firmly so that it sticks well. I hope this helps!
