When we purchase a new product, we come across millions of items. At times, we find it hard to choose a product. While checking a product we read the description, size, quality, type, ratings and reviews. Two other things we always check are the warranty and guarantee. But many of us consider guarantee and warranty as the same thing. So, I will clear the doubt and share what is the difference between guarantee and warranty.

Guarantee Warranty difference:

  1. The guarantee is a promise made by the manufacturer. As per the promise if the product is damaged or not working it will be replaced or the money will be refunded.

Warranty on the other hand is a written assurance that the product manufactured by the company is true and genuine. In case there is some damage, the product will be prepared or replaced.

  1. The word guarantee means commitment, and warranty means assurance.

  2. A guarantee can be oral or written. If the guarantee is oral it becomes hard for the customer to claim a refund as there is no evidence. Warranty, on the other hand, is written evidence and you can easily claim a refund for a damaged product.

  3. A guarantee may denote a product, service, person or consumer satisfaction. Warranty denotes items only.

  4. You can get a guarantee free of cost but for a warranty, you need to pay an amount to safeguard your interest.

  5. The term period for guarantee varies from product to product. On the other hand, a warranty covers a longer period of time for products and parts of products.

  6. Warranty is a part of the condition of the sale but in guarantee, it may or may not be a condition of sale.

Difference between guarantee and warranty with examples:

Let's just say you purchased a product and the shopkeeper guaranteed you that the product is genuine. After using it you realize that the product is not working. When you tried to fix or replace it free of cost, the shopkeeper failed to do so. Since it was word of mouth, you could not provide evidence. So, it was your loss.

But you purchased a product with a written warranty and you saw that after a while the product stopped working. When you showed the product along with your warranty card you received a brand new product since the product you paid money for was damaged.

I hope you can understand the diff between guarantee and warranty.
