Originally called the Bombay Suburban District, the Mumbai Suburban District is part of the Konkan Division. This is the Mumbai suburbs meaning I am aware of. 3 roads were built in the 19th century to connect Mumbai city with the Suburban neighbourhood. At that time, South Salesette Taluka was changed into Andheri Taluka, and certain villages from Thane District were removed and added to Mumbai Suburban District. In the years that followed, some villages from Borivali Taluka and some villages from North Salesette Taluka were removed. Then 2 distinct Taluka known as Andheri and Kurla were founded. Since then, the Mumbai Suburban District has been divided into three Talukas: Andheri, Borivali, and Kurla totalling 87 villages in a suburban area in Mumbai.
