Hello Falguni. I also had the question, do house sellers pay closing costs while selling my house last year. I did some research and found that usually it is the buyer’s responsibility to pay the closing costs. Sellers are only expected to cover the fees of the real estate broker, if any. However, sellers offer to pay the closing cost in some situations. The reasons could be several, for either party to take responsibility for the closing costs. I’ll share more below.

Do Sellers Have to Pay Closing Costs?

As I said, the buyer is mainly responsible for covering the closing costs, but we can make other arrangements. The seller wants to speed up the sale and thus they offer to pay the closing costs.

Here is the list of all fees covered under the closing costs:

  1. Notary fee.

  2. Appraisal fee.

  3. Credit report fee.

  4. Bank processing fee.

  5. Recording fee.

  6. Prepaid interest.

  7. Prepaid insurance.

  8. Origination fee.

  9. Tax servicing fee

  10. Title insurance.

That is all from my side. I hope you now have the answer to does the seller have to pay closing costs.
