Hello, I am an NRI based out of Canada and have transferred money from my NRO to the NRE account. So the answer to can I transfer money from NRO to NRE account is yes. I have an account in the IDFC First Bank and have been using their internet banking to transfer the money.

How can we Transfer Money from NRO to NRE Account?

  1. You first need to go to the

    internet baking page of the bank

    . Then, log in using your mobile number.

  2. Once you are logged in, click on the Pay option. Proceed by clicking the Transfer to NRE’ option and selecting your NRO savings account.

  3. Choose your NRE account for credit and source of funds from the drop-down menu.

  4. Fill in the amount along with the necessary documents.

  5. Accept the terms and conditions and fill in the OTP to confirm the payment.

After all the documents are verified, the funds will be transferred from your NRO to your NRE account.

Is Form 15CB Required for Transfer from NRO to NRE?

Yes, the form 15CB is needed when you want to transfer funds. I am sharing a detailed list of the documents you need to submit while making the transfer.

  1. A FEMA declaration.

  2. A signed cheque or letter for funds transfer from NRO to NRE savings account.

  3. Documentary evidence of source of funds.

  4. Form 15CA and 15CB need to be collected from the CA.
