Hi buddy, I can show you how to clean a tub drain on your own. I use two pretty simple and effective ways to regularly clean my bathtub. So, let me share them with you.

How to Clean Out Tub Drain?

Boiling Water

With this cleaning process once every week, it will help in removing the buildup of soap, scum and gunk.

  1. First, unscrew the drain stopper to an open position so that the water goes down the tub drain. If you know that the water is slow or doesn’t drain, unclog it first.

  2. Boil 2 litres of water and pour it down the drain of the tub. You can pour the water directly, only if the tub has metal pipes.

A Plastic Snake or Pliers

This cleaning process will help in removing stuck dirt and hair from the bathtub drain.

  1. Start by removing the drain stopper by removing the screws or pulling it out.

  2. To pull out dirt and hair from the drain, you’ll have to get to the vertical pipe that goes down the bathtub drain.

  3. Take a plastic snake with teeth or you can also use pliers. Take the tool down the drain and try to pull out any dirt or hair that’s stuck inside the drain.

  4. Pull the tool outside carefully and clean it before you push it back again to bring out more dirt.

  5. Do this till you’ve cleared the drain.

  6. Finally, dispose of the dirt and hair into a dustbin and rinse the bathtub well.

This is how to clean the drain in the bathtub. I  hope you find this helpful.
