   What is meant by land pooling?

Land pooling is a method where a group of landowners hand over their lands to the government for infrastructural development. The land pooling scheme of Andhra pradesh is also the same. The state promises landowners more developed land in the future against their current land. Once the development is done, the former and original land is handed over to the owner after deducting a small portion of the cost of development.   What has been the outcome of this scheme?

A scheme works only when the people accept it and there happens to be an overall development of the state. As per reports within 2 months 

  • Over 25,000 farmers have about 30,000 acres of land

  • 33,700 acres of land have been consolidated through this scheme

  • 123 landowners were sent to Singapore to learn about urban development so that they get acquainted with new technologies that might be here in our country as well

  Why is the LPS or Land Pooling Scheme implement in Andhra Pradesh?

The main aim of the state was to construct a new capital city near Guntur-Vijayawada on 33,000 acres of farmland. Amaravati, the first fully planned city is expected to accelerate economic growth, social modernization and rural-to-urban transition.
