The Kerala State Electricity Board, or KSEB, is in charge of distributing power throughout the state of Kerala. I always do computations based on meter readings to precisely determine my power consumption. For KSEB meter reading calculation, I make use of the official KSEB Electricity Bill Calculator. You don't need to worry if you're looking for the steps to calculate your KSEB power bill. I have included the detailed procedure below.
How is KSEB Electric Bill Calculated?
The amount of units used multiplied by the rate per unit results in the KSEB electricity bill. The number of units utilised can be determined using the meter reading. For assurance on the computations and the overall amount of your KSEB bill, you can follow the below process:
Go to
https://bills.kseb.in/
.
Select Generic or Advanced options as per your needs. I selected Generic for my bill calculation.
Choose your Tariff from the dropdown list. For domestic bill calculation, you must select LT-1A.
Now, select the purpose and the required billing cycle.
Input your consumed units and choose the Phase of your connection.
Finally, tap the Submit button. You will get the entire calculation of your electric bill on the left side of your screen.
Estimating my electricity consumption using the above process, aids me in equitable billing and effective resource management. Moreover, the initial reading and the final reading are typically the two main factors used in the meter reading computation.
You can also calculate your KSEB Bill by using the below formula:
Unit Consumption =KSEB Meter Final Reading – KSEB Meter Initial Reading.
The amount of the power bill for that month or period is then calculated by multiplying this unit consumption by the tariff rate established by KSEB. I hope you understand the KSEB Bill calculation method. 🙂

Since I was a child, I have always witnessed individuals approaching the electric meter box, using a torch to read something and make a note of it. I attempted to figure out how they calculated the bill but was unable to understand. I followed by asking my uncle how to do KSEB bill calculation. He explained to me that when we discuss electricity bill computation, two variables i.e., units consumed and the rate per unit come into play. He explained the straightforward method for calculating electricity bills in Kerala.
How to Calculate Electricity Bill in Kerala?
My uncle told me that the product of the total units consumed and the rate per unit determines the total cost of the electricity bill. The meter reading can be used to determine how many units were consumed. To verify the calculations and the overall cost of bill, I can also use an online electricity bill calculator via
https://kseb.in/bill_calculator_v12/
as given by Seher Khan.
By using an example, let's examine the billing computation in detail. If you are using a single phase at your home, the consumed units are 120, and the rate is LT-1A, your monthly bill will total Rs 526.

You can use the following link to access the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) bill calculator to determine the precise electricity bill amount.
KSEb Bill CalculatorTelescopic rate and Non-telescopic rate are two kinds of tariffs offered by KSEB that are charged according to usage. If you spend less than or equal to 250 units (kWh), then you are subjected to the telescoping tariff rate. The term "non-telescopic consumer" refers to you if your power consumption is greater than 250 units.
How to calculate KSEB bill of the telescopic consumers?
The telescopic consumer comes in six different sizes. The prices range from Rs.1.5 for 0 to 40 units, Rs.3.15 for 0 to 50 units per unit, Rs.3.70 for 101 to 150 units per unit, Rs.6.40 for 151 to 200 units per unit, and Rs.7.60 for 250 units or more.
We also have to contribute a fixed charge, metre rent, 10% duty costs, and fuel surcharges in relation to your KSEB payment. The fixed cost will change depending on how much you consume each month. The fixed rates are cancelled if the consumer's connected load is less than 1kW and their consumption is under 40 units.
What is the example to calculate the telescopic consumer bill?
Let’s say your electricity bill is 240 units. So let’s calculate the charges as per the described costs.
So, your consumption will be like 50+50+50+50+40.
50 Units = 50 x Rs.3.15 = 157.5
50 Units = 50 x Rs.3.7 = 185
50 Units = 50 x Rs.4.8 = 240
50 Units = 50 x Rs.6.4 = 320
40 Units = 40 x Rs.7.6 = 304
Total: 157.5 + 185 + 240 + 320 + 304 = Rs.1206.5
So, you will have to pay Rs.1206.5 for a total consumption of 240 units.
I hope you understood how KSEB bill calculated.
