A few months back, a pipe in my backyard burst, and the first thing I did was shut off the main valve. I called a plumber to get it fixed right away as, with the main valve shut, I didn’t have access to water. After the plumber arrived, I asked him how long does it take to fix a burst pipe. He told me that there is no fixed duration as it mostly depends on how big the issue is.
How Long Does it Take to Fix a Broken Pipe?
As I mentioned before, the plumber told me that the amount of time needed depends on the extent of the damage. Apart from the extent of the damage, he also told me that there are a few factors that can affect the time needed for the repair. Those are,
Age of the pipe: He said the age of the pipe affects the time taken by a lot. According to him, it\'s pretty common for older pipes to burst, and it\'s best to replace them. Replacing a whole pipe could be time-consuming.
Material of the pipe: Metal pipes are very prone to bursts as they corrode over time. Repairing the can add time to the burst pipe repair process.
Location of the pipe: If a pipe is under the back garden, then the amount of time taken is much higher.
To solve the problem I was facing, it took the plumber around 3 hours. I hope this helps.
