There are several things upon which the requirement of cement bags differ like structure, thickness, ratio of materials that are to be used in the construction, type of cement. But without knowing

how many cement bags required for 1500 sq ft house, you won’t be able to place your order. There is a simple calculation by which you can know how many bags you should be buying. Let’s see the amount.

Different types of thumb rules are followed to determine the amount of cement, let's check them out.

Thumb Rules for cement quantity calculation for 1500 sq ft house:

  • Thumb rule for cement in rcc concrete is 0.301 cement bags/sq ft

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags in surface ground is 0.089 cement bags/sq ft

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags in external wall brickwork is 1.26 cement bags/m3 of brickwork of 9 inch

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags in internal wall brickwork is 1.28 cement bags/m3 of brickwork of 4.5 inch

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags for external plastering is 0.170 cement bags/ sq ft plastering

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags for internal plastering is 0.008 cement bags/ sq ft plastering

  • Thumb Rule for cement bags for ceiling plastering is 0.005 cement bags/ sq ft plastering

Now if you are planning to use cement bags for 1500 sq feet house then to know how many bags you need to buy, follow this calculation:

  1. Cement required by the external brick wall: External brick wall length =2(50+30) = 160 ft

Height of brick wall 10 feet

Height of brick wall above roof slab = 3feet

Depth of brick wall = 2 feet

Total Height= 15feet

Area of external brick wall= 160* 15= 2400 sq ft

Volume = 2400 sq ft* 9 inch = 1800 cu ft

Volume = 1800/ 35.3147 = 51m3

Volume of brickwork = 51m3

Now let's observe the above mentioned rule for wall brickwork: Thumb Rule for cement bags in external wall brickwork is 1.26 cement bags/m3 of brickwork of 9 inch(cement:sand=1:6)

No of cement bags= 51*1.26= 64bags

  1. Cement required by internal brick wall

             Brick wall length = 50+30+30+30 =140 ft

Height of Brick wall =10 feet

Depth of brick wall = 2 feet

Total height = 12 feet

Area of external brick wall = 140* 12= 1680 sq ft

Volume = 1680 sq ft * 4.5 inch= 630 cu ft

Volume = 630/35.3147 =17.84m3

Volume of brick work = 17.84

Thumb Rule for cement bags in internal wall brickwork is 1.28 cement bags/m3 of brickwork of 4.5 inch(cemet: sand= 1:4)

No of cement bags = 17.84* 1.28= 23

So the total number of bags becomes 64+23= 87

This is the approx amount of cement bags you will be needing. I hope now you know

how many cement bags required for 1500 sq ft house and can change the values if needed as per your requirement.

How To Calculate Cement In Concrete?

How Many Cement Bags Required for 1200 Sq Ft House?

While renovating my house I asked the contractor how many cement bags need for 1500 sq ft house? He informed me that it depends on several factors or parameters;

  • Structure type (Load-bearing/Framed)

  • Structure's function (Load depends on utility)

  • The grade of concrete that was used

  • Size, height, and length of the beam (in terms of height, as required, i.e., whether horizontal or vertical)

  • The type of foundation is crucial (it relies on the soil-bearing characteristics).

How many cement bags need for 1500 sq ft house?

The contractor informed me that according to the general norm, approximately 600 bags of 50kg cement on average are needed to create a 1500 square foot (sq ft) house that is fully furnished. A conventional home requires 0.4 bags of cement per square foot to be constructed, so a 1500-square-foot home requires 600 bags of cement (0.4 x 1500 = 600).

He gave me the following calculation;

  • For a 1500 square foot house on the ground floor of a low rise structure, 412.5 cement bags are needed for the footing, beam, column, and slab of an RCC concrete structure.

  • 87 cement bags are needed to complete the brickwork of a 1500 square foot house.

  • For a 1500 square foot house's concrete ground flooring, ground flooring plastering, and tile flooring, 135 cement bags are needed.

  • For the external wall, interior wall, and ceiling plastering of a 1500 square foot house, 64 cement bags are needed.

So the total number of cement bags will be,  412.5 + 87 + 135 + 64 = 698.5 cement bags.

Before starting your home construction project you should consult a contractor to seek assistance and get an exact estimate of how many cement bags need for 1500 sq ft house.

The quantity of cement required for 1500 sq ft slab cannot be stated without determining the

  • Thickness of the slab

  • Size of the slab

  • Proportions of the other materials you want to use

  • How durable you want to make it and more

It will be the best option to consult with a builder and find out its answer. But overall, since we constructed a house recently, I can give you an idea about how many cement bags required for 1500 sq ft slab. So let me share the calculation with you to help you determine how many cement bags will be required for it.

How many cement bags will be required for 1500 sq ft slab?

Let me share an example stating the thickness, volume and other aspects of a slab to give you an estimate of the number of cement bags.

Let the thickness of the slab be 4 inches (0.33 feet) and a standard concrete mix with a ratio of 1:2:4 (cement:sand: aggregate)

Calculate the volume of concrete needed:

Volume = Area × Thickness

Volume = 1500 sq ft × 0.33 ft

Lets convert the volume to cubic feet for easy calculation:

Volume (in cubic feet) = Volume (in cubic feet) × 27

Quantity of cement:

Quantity of cement = (Volume × Cement ratio) / (Sum of ratios)

The cement ratio is 1, the sand ratio is 2, and the aggregate ratio is 4.

The number of cement bags required:

Volume = 1500 sq ft × 0.33 ft = 495 cubic feet

Volume (in cubic feet) = 495 cubic feet × 27 = 13,365 cubic feet

Quantity of cement = (13,365 × 1) / (1 + 2 + 4) = 2,227.5 cubic feet

Let's assume one cement bag typically contains 1.25 cubic feet of cement. So the

Number of cement bags = Quantity of cement / Volume per bag

Number of cement bags = 2,227.5 cubic feet / 1.25 cubic feet per bag

Therefore, approximately 1,782 cement bags would be required for a 1500 sq ft slab with a thickness of 4 inches and a concrete mix ratio of 1:2:4.

This is just a basic calculation. But to know accurately how many cement bags required for 1500 sq ft slab, you need to consult with a civil engineer or simply a local builder.

Hi there,

Cement is required for many reasons besides covering the brick walls. Mr. Sambit has correctly mentioned how many bags of cement required per square feet for RCC concrete, surface ground, brickwork, and plastering. He has specified and calculated the number of cement bags required for internal and external brickwork so I will help you with how much cement required for 1500 sq ft house for ground flooring.

  Renovate your house with top quality cement and tiles! Hire NoBroker experts now!   Number of cement required for 1500 sq ft house (Ground Flooring):

For ground flooring, plain cement is used. They are of m15 grade and the ratio of cement, sand, and aggregate is 1:2:4 and the thickness of the floor is 6 inches (4-inch concrete + 2-inch plastering for flooring + tile flooring).

Ground flooring concrete slab = 50′ × 30’×6″

Length of slab = 50 feet

Width of slab = 30 feet

Thickness of slab = 6 inch = 0.5 feet

Volume = 50′ × 30’× 0.5′ = 750 cubic feet

1 m3 = 35.3147 cu ft

Volume = 750/35.3147 = 21.24 m3

Wet volume = 21.24 m3

Dry volume = 21.24 × 1.54 = 32.71 m3

Number of cement bags = (1/7) 32.71 × (1440/50)

Number of cement bags = 135 bags

So, now we know that 135 bags of cement are needed for the ground flooring of concrete for houses measuring 1500 square feet.

I hope you find this answer on cement required per square feet interesting.
