Hey,

Whenever you have filled a form, you must have seen there is any empty space for the IFSC code. I remember the first time I was getting a refund for a purchase, I didn't know how many digits in IFSC code. I had assumed the IFSC code and account number were the same things. I was wrong about it.

Importance :

It is important to know in the IFSC code how many digits the code is used to transfer funds from one person/ organisation to another in NEFT, IMPS and RTGS transactions. The full form of the acronym is the Indian Financial System Code (IFSC).

How many digits are there in IFSC code ?

The IFSC code has 11-digit alphanumeric digits. Where the first four digits are used to identify the bank, the fifth is numeric (kept 0) and the last six digits represent the bank branch. The code is a mix of alphabets and numerals. All bank branches have a unique combination. Just to make it clearer, even bank branches in the same city have a uniquely different code from each other.

How many digits are present in IFSC code of SBI Bank?

The IFSC code of all banks has eleven figures. In SBI the first four letters will be 'SBIN', and the last 6 digits will represent a specific branch code. For example, the IFSC code of the SBI branch at 23, Himalaya House, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi 110001, is SBIN0005943.
