The stamp duty charges in India is between 2-8% and it varies from state to state. In some states, factors like age and gender of the buyer can affect the stamp duty charges. While in some states, location of the property affects the rate of stamp duty. For example, In Punjab, the stamp duty charges are 7% for males and 5% for females. While in Maharashtra, Mumbai has 5% stamp duty charges and Pune has 6% stamp duty charges. (Currently, the Maharashtra government has reduced the stamp duty charges by 3% till 31st December 2020). Andhra Pradesh - 5%. Arunachal Pradesh - 6%. Assam - 8.25%. Bihar - Male to Female are 5.7%, from Female to Male, 6.3%, and in other cases, it is 6%. Chhattisgarh - 5%. Goa - upto Rs 50 Lakhs it is 3.5%, From Rs 50 Lakhs to Rs 75 Lakhs, it is 4%, From Rd 75 Lakhs to 1 Crore, it is 4.5% and 5% if the value exceeds 1 Crore. Gujarat - 4.9%. Haryana - for males is 6% in Rural Areas and 8% in Urban Areas. For females, it is 4% in Rural Areas and 6% in Urban Areas. Himachal Pradesh - 5%. Jammu and Kashmir - 5%. Jharkhand State - 4%. Karnataka - 5% for the value above Rs 35 Lakhs, and it is 3% if the value is between Rs 21 Lakhs to 35 Lakhs. The Stamp Duty Charges are 2% if the value is less than Rs 20 Lakhs. Kerala - 8%. Madhya Pradesh - 7.5%. Maharashtra - 3% ( Till 30 December 2020). Manipur - 7%. Meghalaya - 9.9%. Mizoram - 9%. Nagaland - 8.25%. Odisha - 5% for Male and 4% for females. Punjab - 7% for Male and 5% for females. Rajasthan - 5% for Male and 4% for females. Sikkim - 4% + 1% for Sikkimese, and 9% +1% for other citizens. Tamil Nadu - 7%. Telangana - 5%. Tripura - 5%. Uttar Pradesh - 7% for Male and 7% – Rs 10000 for females. Uttarakhand - 5% for Male and 3.75% for females. West Bengal - 7% up to Rs 25 Lakhs’ value, and above Rs 25 Lakhs, it is 6%.
