1. Bitumen Roll: This is a petroleum-based hydrocarbon. This consists of a thin layer of non-viscous material made up of a waterproof hessian cloth base. Here, a thin layer of copper or lead foil is used for added protection.

2. Slates and cement mortar: This is constructed through a double layer of slates in cement mortar. Mortar can be made up of clean sand and Portland cement in the ratio of 2:1 and any slate type can be used.

3. Mastic Asphalt: For this damp-proof course, a high temperature which is enough to melt natural asphalt is needed. Pure bitumen is added to this heated asphalt till a workable consistency is gained. The material is spread on the wall afterwards.

• Electro-Osmotic Damp Proofing Course:

The electro-osmotic DPC type is an additional option. It works well if the wall is constructed of substantial rubble stone. Using a strong electric charge, this damp treatment drives the water back to the ground.  An electro-osmotic DPC system is most likely to be beneficial for older and heritage buildings.  

• Damp-proof membrane:

To safeguard your property from any dampness difficulties, the damp-proof course must be installed. The concrete slab has a damp-proof membrane put underneath it. • Pressure grouting:

The grout needs to be poured under great pressure in order to fill large fractures.  This kind of damp-proof course is effective when mending hardened concrete or increasing the bearing capacity.

• Cavity wall damp proof course:

A damp proof course for cavity walls can be installed for insulation. It functions to maintain an uninterrupted air gap between the two parallel walls. The wall is tied with metal to maintain the necessary space that will keep the area dry. However, occasionally moisture gathers in the space between the two walls, which finally causes dampness.

• Chemical damp-proof course:

This damp-proofing method involves injecting a substance that repels water. It does this by building a vertical or horizontal barrier to stop moisture from moving. A chemical damp proof course is required, if the existing DPC has deteriorated, causing moisture to rise and seep into the construction.
