Hey. A while back, when I was renovating my home, I had to build a small 10x10 room for my newly born child, which is comfortable, safe and cosy for the baby. I also had to buy the quality and soft furniture for the baby including the calming paints and toys. So, it got me thinking about 10 x 10 Room Construction Cost to get this room. From my personal experience, I can share the estimate here with you.

How Much Does it Cost to Build a 10x10 Room?

So, I went ahead and did a detailed estimation of everything needed, and it really helped me stay on track with my budget:

  • First, the foundation work was quite simple. For soil excavation and laying the plinth, I ended up spending around Rs.2900.

  • Next came the brickwork, and for a 9-inch thick walland I used about 4675 bricks. The cost of the bricks, cement, and sand for the brickwork came to around Rs.45,680.

  • Concrete was another major part of the construction. For the footing, columns, beams, and the RCC slab, I calculated the volume to be around 4.8 cubic meters.

  • I chose M20 grade concrete, which cost about Rs.19,200 for the entire structure. Reinforcement steel also added to the total, with 376.8 kg of steel costing me Rs.22,600.

  • Labour charges were a big chunk of the cost. Without including plastering and finishing, the labor alone for the 132.25 square foot room was around Rs.23,805.

  • So, by the time I was done with the basic construction, the total came to approximately Rs.1,14,200.

  • Now, for finishing the room with plastering, tiling, electrical fittings, plumbing, and painting, the additional cost was about Rs.68,520, bringing the total for my fully furnished room to around Rs.1,82,700.

It was a lot to calculate, but getting the cost to build 10 x 10 room estimate ahead of time helped me make sure I stayed within my budget.

We constructed a 10ft *10 ft room so I can help you get an idea about the 10x10 room construction cost. To get an estimate, you will need to add the cost of brickwork, concrete work, steel work, flooring cost, labour cost and others.

How to Calculate the 100 Square Feet Room Construction Cost?

We consulted with a builder to learn how much does it cost to build a 10 x 10 room and he gave us a precise estimate of the cost with proper division. Let me share that with you here:

  • The quantity of brick required will be 7.65 m^3

  • Total brickwork will be around 8.99 m^3 (including the parapet wall) but after deduction of the door and window area, it was around 8.23 m^3 in our case.

  • The cost of brickwork including the number of Bricks, Cement, and Sand Quantity and Costing will be around Rs 28192

  • Cost of Concrete = Rs. 10,045

  • Cost of Steel = Rs. 11,277

  • Cost of Tile Flooring = 100 x 25 = Rs. 2500 (where tile rate is 25/ sq ft and total room size is 100 sq ft i.e 10*10)

  • Cost of Labour = Rs. 26,450

So the total cost will be Rs 53,015 + Rs 26,450 (labour cost)

= Rs 78,465

This is just to give you an idea; all these charges might vary depending on where you live, labour charges in your area, materials you are using and other factors. It is thus best that you consult with a builder and get an exact estimate.

As a contractor, I can tell you that a 10×10 room estimate is dependent on various factors like the quality of materials that are used in construction, the location of construction, the complexity of design used in construction, etc. However, as a thumb rule, usually the cost of construction for a 10 by 10 room ranges between Rs. 1500 to 2500 per square foot. So the total construction cost can come somewhere between Rs. 1.5 lakhs to Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

Factors affecting 10*10 room construction cost in India

  • The quality of the construction site is a major determinant of construction cost. The construction cost is usually higher in urban areas as compared to rural areas.

  • If you use high-quality materials, the construction cost would be higher.

  • If the design of construction is complex it will also lead to higher construction costs.

  • If you decide to add additional features like a bathroom or a kitchen it will also lead to an increase in the overall construction cost.

I would always suggest you get in touch with a contractor before you start any kind of construction project. They are professionals for a reason and they can help you and guide you better.

However, few more things that I think you should keep in mind for 10*10 room construction cost.

  • The cost of labour for construction may change depending on the particular time of the year and the location of the construction site.

  • The price of the materials that you use for construction not only depends on the quality of the materials but also on the availability of the materials.

  • There may be some additional costs like certain permits and inspection costs for construction.

I hope now you understand the 10×10 room estimate.

We have 2 bedrooms on the first floor but when guests come over to join our 4 member family, we feel a scarcity of space. My brother hence decided to construct a guest room on the first floor and called a builder to discuss the 10 by 10 room construction cost and design. We had to do a lot of calculations but it was worth it. We estimated that it will cost Rs 2.5 lakhs but it was lesser than this. Let me share the example so that you can understand how much construction cost for 10 10 room. Read this answer thoroughly to understand the calculation rightly.

What will be the 10 10 room construction cost?

We have to do all the calculations from base construction to the foundation to flooring and what not. Let me share all of them here.

  Foundation cost-

Let the foundation size be 4’*4’ and 4 feet deep. The volume of soil excavation for 4 footings will be = 4’*4’*4’*4’= 256 cubic feet or 7.25 m3.

Suppose the soil excavation rate is Rs 400/ m3 so the total cost for the foundation’s soil excavation will be 7.25*400= Rs 2900.

Brickwork-

Let the 10’*10 room have a 9” brick wall on 4 side

height up to 10 feet and

The parapet wall for the partition wall be 4.5 inch

The outer dimension ve 11.5’*11.5’ and the inner dimension excluding the wall be 10’*10’

Door size be 4’*7” = 28 sq ft

Windows be of 3’*4’ = 12 sq ft

Area of brick wall = 400 - (28+12) = 360 sq ft

Volume of 9-inch brick wall = 369*9/12 = 270 cubic feet or 7.65 cubic meters

The parapet brick wall be of 3.5 feet high and 4.5-inch thick

Outer dimension of the room be 11.5*3.5*4 = 161 sq ft

Vol of parapet wall =

( 4.5/12)×161=60 cubic ft or 1.70 cubic meters

Total brick wall =

4 brick wall + parapet wall = 7.65+ 1.70 = 9.35 cubic meter

As per the basic thumb Rule for brickwork 1 cubic metre of brickwork, the required number of bricks = 500, 1.26 bags of cement and 9.28 cubic feet sand quantity.

Number of bricks in 9.35 cubic meters = 500×9.35= 4675 nos

Let the brick rate be Rs 8000 per thousand, so brick cost = 8000× (4675/1000) = rs 37400

  Cement cost-

The quantity of cement needed for 9.35 cubic metre brickwork is 1.26 × 9.35 = 12 bags cement. If the rate of cement is around rupees 400 per bag so cement cost = 12×400= Rs 4800.

  Sand cost-

The quantity of sand required for 9.35 cubic metres of brickwork is 9.28 × 9.35 = 87 cft. The market rate of sand is around Rs 40 per CFT then sand cost= 87 ×40 = Rs 3480

Total brickwork cost = brick cost + cement cost + sand cost = 37400 + 4800 + 3480 = Rs 45680.

  Other cost-

Let the column length be

 4’+10’+3.5’= 17.5′

Total volume of concrete quantity for 4 column = 4 × (9″×12″)×17.5′ = 4 × 13.125 =52.5cubic feet.

The beam size be of 9″×12″ for all around for the length 11.5×4 = 46 feet. The total volume of concrete quantity for the plinth beam = (9″×12″)× 46 = 34.5 cubic feet.

Wall beam size 9″×9″ for all around for length 11.5×4 = 46 feet. The total volume of concrete quantity for the wall beam = (9″×9″)× 46′ = 25.9 cubic feet.

RCC slab 5 inches thick for 11.5’×11.5′, concrete volume is 11.5’×11.5’×5/12′ = 55 cft.

Total Weight volume of RCC concrete = concrete quantity for column + concrete quantity for RCC plinth beam + concrete quantity for RCC wall + concrete quantity for RCC slab = 52.5 +34.5+25.9+55 = 170 cft or 4.8m3.

Ready mix concrete available in the market is around Rs 4000 per m3 for M20 grade of concrete, so the total material cost of concrete = 4000×4.8 = Rs 19200.

Reinforcement cost

1% of concrete volume for RCC works like column beam and RCC slab

Steel quantity = (1/100)×4.8m3 = 0.048m3

Weight of steel = 0.048m3 × 7850kg/m3 = 376.8kg, the market price of Steel is about  60 rupees per kg then the total cost of Steel = 60×376.8 = Rs 22600.

Labour cost be of Rs 180/ sq foot

So the total outer area of one room is 11.5’×11.5 = 132.25 square foot, total labour cost = 180×132.25 = Rs 23805

The cost to build a 10 ×10 room, therefore, will be

soil excavation amount+ brickwork amount + concreting amount+ reinforcement amount+ labour charge

Total construction cost for one room = 2900+45680+19200+22600+23805 = Approx rs 114200.

For plastering, PCC flooring, tile flooring, putty painting, electrical fitting, plumbing, water and sanitization 60% of the total construction cost of one room will be needed.

60% of construction cost of one room = (70/100)×114200= 68520.

Total cost =114200+68520 =

Rs

182700

So the

10 by 10 room construction cost will be Rs

182700.
