How much does it cost to install a chandelier ?

The cost of installing chandelier mainly depends on its size and weight. In our case, we paid around Rs 600 to install a single chandelier with 5 bulbs, and it included minor wiring up to 2 m. If your chandelier consists of more bulbs or needs more wiring work, the charge will increase. There are a few other factors that affect this charge so let me mention them next.

The cost of a chandelier installation usually ranges between Rs 550 and Rs 1,200. The factors that affect the installation charges are:

• Chandelier Size and Weight: Larger or heavier chandeliers require more effort and reinforcement, hence calling for more charge

• Ceiling Height: If you need to install it on a high ceiling, extra equipment like ladders or scaffolding may be needed, and that will raise the charge

• Wiring Requirements: If existing wiring is ready, it will cost you less; otherwise, new wiring or upgrades will cost more.

• Installation Location: Hard-to-reach spots or challenging placements, like above stairs, may increase labour time and expenses.

• Electrician Experience: Hiring a certified professional might cost more but ensures safe, quality work.

It is thus better that you consult with a few electricians to know the rates and hire accordingly.

We asked a local electrician about it, and initially he asked for Rs 400, but after seeing the size and other aspects like switch boards, wiring, and more, he asked for Rs 1200. Chandeliers are available in various sizes and materials. The most basic option I could find online cost Rs.4000 for a small - 1 tier chandelier. A bigger three-tier chandelier can cost you about Rs. 70,000 or more. The material used dictates the price set. 

Chandelier cost in India includes the cost of lightbulbs. Normal bulbs cannot be used in a chandelier. You need to acquire lights of a specific size and light setting.  

If you wish to install a brand new chandelier, it will cost you around Rs. 5,000. The exact cost can only be found when the weight and details about the setup are revealed. I know people who paid Rs.21000 for their chandelier to be installed. 

Replacing old chandeliers costs less in comparison. In dollars, a simple replacement will cost you anything between $100 to $200. The most expensive chandelier is the Givenchy Royal Hanover German silver eight-light chandelier by William Kent. It was auctioned in London in 2011 for a whopping $9 million.
