Not all epoxy will cover the same area; hence, to find your answer to “How much epoxy do I need per square foot?" You must first check the instructions labelled in the epoxy’s package. You can figure out the quantity of the epoxy and its coverage capacity. For your better understanding, let me share an example here.

How Much Epoxy Do I Need For 1000 Square Feet?

The coverage of epoxy resin is usually around 1 litre per 10 square feet for a standard thickness of 1 millimetre.

For 1000 square feet, the calculation is as follows:

  • Coverage per litre: 10 sq ft

  • 1000 sq ft / 10 sq ft per litre = 100 litres of epoxy

So, if you are coating a 1000 square foot floor at a thickness of 1 millimetre, you will need 100 litres of epoxy.

The coverage rate can vary based on the brand and type of epoxy used. Make sure to consider the additional layers or increased thickness, as they will proportionally increase the amount of epoxy required.

Following this same method, you can also figure out how much epoxy for 100 sq ft floor. You can also consult with an expert about the same but I guess you have an idea about the calculation already.

You must first measure the square footage in order to determine how much epoxy do I need for floor. Square footage equals width times length. You must also consider epoxy that can leak underneath baseboards, etc. It's always a good idea to order at least 15% extra epoxy than you think you're going to need.

There are several calculator epoxy needed for flooring available online. You can use them to calculate the amount of epoxy you would require to cover the flooring.

How much epoxy do I need for floor?

You can calculate how much epoxy you'll need using a straightforward volume calculation.  You simply multiply the length of the pour by the depth of the pour by the average width of the pour and then convert it to litres.

Example:

Length: 48”

Depth 1.5”

Average Width: 6”

48” x 1.5” x 6” = 432 cubic inches

432 cubic inches = 7.08 Litres

You can also divide the cubic inches by 61 to determine the total number of litres needed.

432 / 61 =  7.08 Litres

General rule for epoxy coverage:

To help you determine how much epoxy you require, there is a general rule. One mixed gallon, or half a gallon of resin and half a gallon of hardener, will cover twelve square feet of coated epoxy at a thickness of 1/8 of an inch. To be certain, always refer to the manufacturer's instructions as this may differ by brand.

I’d like to conclude my answer here about how much epoxy do I need for floor. I hope this helps:)
