How much fencing do I need - 1 or 2 acres? Perimeter :The amount of fencing needed will depend on the perimeter of your property. The size and shape of the plot are two major factors that need to be considered.
Space between posts :The amount of space between each post can either increase the amount of fencing material needed. If the posts are put close by, more fencing will be needed. Typically, the post space is somewhere between 6 and 8 feet; or 2 and 5 metres.
The formula that I use for calculation is :Number of posts = (fence length / post spacing) + 1 (round the result up)
Number of sections = number of posts - 1
Post length = fence height * 1.5
Total number of rails = number of rails per section * number of sections
Total number of pickets = fence length in inches / (picket width + picket spacing)(round the result up)
Volume of concrete = (hole volume - post volume) * number of posts
How much fence do I need for 1 acre?One acre of land is 43,560 square feet. Assuming the property has 4 equal sides, then you can take the square root (√) of 43,560 and find out that each side would measure 209'. Since this is based on a square, you would take 209 linear feet x 4 sides, to arrive at 835 linear feet of fence to enclose that acre.
How much fence do I need for 1 2 acre?To know the amount of 1/2 acre, you can use the formula given below.
We know one Acre = 43,560 square feet
This means, 1/2 Acre will be = 43,560 square feet divided by 2
Each size is 209 linear feet. Or ½ acre, just multiple 209 x 2 sides
You will need 418 linear feet to enclose half of an acre.
