According to me, the best way to find out how much paint is needed for 2000 square feet is to consult a painter. This is what we did when we painted our 2000 sq. ft. house. It is because painting a room or a whole house can be expensive and time-consuming, it's critical to determine how much paint you'll need before you begin. If you’re thinking of DIY painting, I have shared some tips below.

How Much Paint Do I Need for 2000 Square Feet?

We consulted a painter, who said the following points that actually helped in calculating the amount of paint required,

  • He said that

porous surfaces like unpainted drywall might need more paint than the amount calculated because such surfaces absorb paint at a higher rate.

  • Also, one might require 1-2 extra quarts of paint as final touches, so always have an extra amount of paint handy.

  • We were informed that to paint a 2000 sq. ft. house, we will need 15-20 litres per coat for walls, 5-6 litres per coat for ceilings.

If you’re going on a DIY project, check for any cracked drywall and repair it first before embarking on the painting process. You will need to patch the cracked walls with a patching compound and then seal it with a primer. I would recommend consulting a professional here.

I hope this helps.
