So, I can give you a formula and a rule of thumb so you can figure out how much steel required for 2000 sq ft house. The most important thing to know here is that the total steel quantity per slab must be the same as the total amount of main steel.
How Do You Calculate the Steel Required for 2000 sq ft House?
You can calculate the steel quantity by multiplying the cross-section of steel with its total density. To get a detailed understanding, you can follow the below steps.
First of all, find out the volume of concrete by multiplying the length, width, and thickness of the slab.
Then, apply the formula. The quantity of steel required for a slab is around 1% of the total volume of concrete. This is just a rough approximation, and can vary depending on the design specifications.
Multiply the volume of concrete by 1% and then, by the density of steel, to get the weight of the steel. This density is roughly 7850 kg/m3.
Besides, you can also follow the rule of thumb. For an RCC slab, the amount of steel required in slabs is roughly 3.5 kg to 4 kg/ sq ft of built up area. So, for our 1000 sq ft house, we required approximately 3500 kg to 4000 kg of steel.
For a 2000 sq ft area, you may roughly require 7000 kg to 8000 kg of medium steel.
However, this is just a rough estimate and I would suggest you speak to your contractor who can give you the exact amount.
