My house was pretty old, and I had been facing quite a lot of electric wiring issues for the past few months. To find a solution to this problem, I hired an electrician, who, after inspection, told me that I needed to change the wires in the house as they had become old. I suspected that before, and thus, I asked him how much wire do I need to rewire my house.

How Much Cable to Rewire a House?

The electrician told me that, on average, I would need about 1.5 to 2 feet of wire for each square foot of the house. He also said that this can change based on the home’s layout, the electrical load, etc. I have added some of the points below.

  1. Number of Outlets and Switches: According to him, the number of outlets and switches greatly affects the amount of wire needed. He said that more outlets and switches meant more wires would be required.

  2. Layout of the House: If the layout of the house is complex, then the amount of wire required can go up by a lot.

  3. Electrical Load: Another point that he added was the electrical load. He said it\'s very necessary to calculate the total power consumption to determine the amount of wire needed.

And that’s all I have learned from the electrician about the amount of wire needed to review my house. Hope this helps.
