• Drain Tray:

  When hot air goes through the evaporator, condensation starts to happen, and it falls. A drain tray is used to overcome shutdowns and condensation leaks in the AC. The tray collects the condensation water and is pushed outside through the drain pipe.

• Control Panel:

  The control panel helps to switch the AC on and off and change the temperature of the AC.

• Front Panel:

  The front panel comprises two parts. One is the return air grill, which is the pathway through which the blower extracts heat from the room. Second is the supply grill, which is also a path through which the blower provides cool air into the room.

• Compressor:

• Expansion Device:

  It decreases the pressure.

• The outdoor unit of a split AC features the refrigerant, which is a gas pressurised into the compressor. There are several tubes or ducts in a ducted AC unit through which the gas passes. This then condenses into liquid form.

• After that, the liquid gets converted into a gaseous state after passing through the expansion joint. This releases a lot of heat in the process.

• The resultant gas is used to cool the air at a low temperature and that’s why it’s known as the refrigerant. This is a cyclic process that continues as the gas goes back into the compressor. Your room’s air passes through the cavity which contains evaporator coils. These coils contain gas at very low temperatures, which cools the air.

• The thermostat available inside AC units helps control the temperature and the air stays in the evaporator zone till the preferred temperature is obtained. After that, it’s then blown into your room.

• So, your split AC works by sucking in the hot air and lowering its temperature before blowing it back into your room. The moisture inside your room gets condensed in the process, which is then removed through a drain pipe available in the outdoor unit. A multi-split air conditioner has 1 outdoor compressor, connected to 4-5 indoor air outlets through refrigerant lines instead of a complex duct system. Besides the refrigerant tubing, the indoor air outlets are connected to the outdoor unit with power cables and condensate drain lines.

Even though each indoor air outlet can be controlled separately, they’re connected with the same outdoor heat pump unit for absorbing or dispersing heat. This heat pump removes the heat from the outdoors and transfers it indoors.
