For online payments, Google Pay uses mobile wallets and the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) standard. It also provides the option to link numerous bank accounts, debit cards, and credit cards for hassle-free transactions. Hence, it is important to learn how to add credit card in Google Pay India. Numerous advantages that improve your fund transfer experience come with adding a credit card to your Google Pay account.

How to add credit card in Google Pay?
  • Open Google Pay, on your mobile device. 

  • Tap on your Profile Picture, followed by clicking on the Bank Accounts and Cards, and then Add Card.

  • Enter the card number, expiry date, CVV, and the cardholder’s name and billing address.

  • Tap Save. 

  1. Accept issuer Terms & Conditions

  2. Google Pay will contact your bank to verify your card

  3. Choose how you will verify

  4. You will be asked for additional authentication via OTP

  5. OTP will be auto-read or you can enter manually

  • Tap Activate, on your new card’s payment method listing.

  • Enter your one-time password.

This password should be sent to the mobile number connected to your Google Pay account through text message. If you don't get a one-time password, make sure your contact details are accurate. To troubleshoot, get in touch with your bank if your contact information is valid.

  • Enter your one-time password. You will see a confirmation. Check your card information again and try again if you don't see a confirmation.

You can start making transactions with your card after it has been verified.

Note:

Adding your card to Google Pay will enable tokenized card payments, in the following usage cases:

Payment options include,

  • tap-and-pay at NFC-enabled terminals

  • QR code payments at retailers

  • mobile recharge using Google Pay

  • online transactions through third parties where Google Pay is accepted.

You can always ask your bank to opt-out or deregister a specific use case for you before adding the card if you don't want to register your card for any of the use cases listed above.

To de-register your card on a case-by-case basis post-card addition, you can also call your issuer.
