Steps for Adjusting IKEA Kitchen Cabinet Doors

I had intended to have my IKEA kitchen cabinet door adjusted last month since it was not closing correctly. However, after researching IKEA's repair costs online, I made the decision to handle it myself. 

As I have a basic knowledge of carpentry and work as a general contractor, so I put my knowledge to the test and started off. Here is what you need to do

• Check the hinge that connects it to your cabinet box. Your cabinet door must have two screws - one on top and another on the bottom. You should turn it in a clockwise direction and do the adjustment. 

• Also, look for screws on the hinge. It will definitely let you adjust cabinet doors up or down. 

• For adjusting IKEA cabinet doors, spin the mounting screws on both hinges anticlockwise and loosen them a little bit. Make sure that you put the screws tight, not too loose.

• Now, shut your kitchen cabinet door slowly. 

• Make the necessary height adjustments to the cabinet door.

• Reopen your cabinet door, and manually tighten the screws. 

• Finally, close your cabinet door to verify whether its position is proper or not.

As my cabinet door was loose, I performed the above steps and got it adjusted properly. I hope you also got an idea of how to adjust IKEA doors.

When my parcel was delivered, I decided to assemble everything on my own. I struggled with how to adjust IKEA cabinet doors. Take a look below to know the solution. 

• IKEA shelves have integrated dampers on each side of the cabinet door. These close the furniture slowly and silently.

• Take a Phillips head screwdriver and turn all the screws in the clockwise direction to tighten them 

• If the hinge is misaligned, adjust the hinge screws. 

• You will see two vertical fixed door screws on the inside. Lock these screws in place.

• Turn the locking screw clockwise.

• If any vertical screw is loose, tighten it as well. 

The easiest way to adjust and build IKEA furniture is by following the instruction manual given with the cabinet. Step-by-step instructions are mentioned on the leaflet. There are pictorial references and examples in the manual as well.  

If you can't figure out how to fix the cabinet doors. You can call for a carpenter, their expertise will help them adjust all the pieces. All the loose or misaligned pieces will be tightened.
