In my research, I also found out that in FMB, the survey number sketches of any individual are kept at a scale of

1:1000 or 1:2000 and each of these survey numbers is further divided into subdivisions that are owned by the property owners. FMB sketch helps in determining the exact dimensions of a piece of land and this is the reason why FMB sketch is used to verify the measurements of land during the transaction of purchase of a property.

As already pointed out by Mr. Sanket, there is no method of getting an FMB sketch online in Chennai yet. But you can obtain an FMB sketch by visiting the Tahsildar Office and submitting a request in writing to get an FMB sketch of a property.

As for the components which constitute the FMB sketch, I would like to explain them a little more based on my research.

1. G-line:

   It is the most important part of the FMB sketch which is an imaginary line that serves the purpose of converting the sketch into different sizes of triangles to affix the boundary lines. 

2. F-line:

   This line serves as the actual field boundary line in the outline of the sketch. The offset distance from the G-line determines the point at which the F-line will be fixed.

3. Subdivision Lines:

   A subdivision line is usually presented through a ladder and it serves the purpose of demarcating a small part of the land which is within the survey number.

4. Ladder:

   Ladder details when converted online, give the actual outline of the FMB sketch

5. Extension Lines:

   An extension line serves the purpose of determining the exact direction where the subject field joins the neighbouring field on the FMB sketch.

6. Neighbouring Field Survey Numbers:

   These help in converting the FMB sketch to D-sketches.
