Hello Oshin, I wanted to apply plastic paint over my interior wall. As this was a DIY thing I was doing along with my friend, I looked up how to apply plastic paint on walls. I used the emulsion plastic paint for this purpose and the process wasn’t too complicated for us to get the job done. Let me share the process with you below.

How to Use Plastic Paint on Wall?

The preparation process for old and new surfaces is different. Mine was an old surface with paint. So, I am sharing the preparation steps accordingly. Here is the method you can follow:

  1. If the existing paint on the wall is in good condition and firm, use sandpaper first.

  2. Wash the surface with lime water and use a clean cloth to pat it dry.

  3. Remove any loose and peeling paint with a paint scraper.

  4. Wash the surface with soap and water solution. Let it dry.

  5. If the old paint is blistered, remove it using a patent paint remover.

  6. For the patches on the wall, use wall putty and a putty knife to seal them. Smoothen the surface and make it even while you do so.

  7. Apply a single coat of primer and let it dry completely.

  8. Now, apply the plastic emulsion paint using a brush, spray or a roller.

  9. Let each coat dry before applying the next one. Ideally, 2-3 coats should be enough.

  10. Let the surface dry completely.

This is all about the process.

  • Clean the surface using sandpaper before applying the primer.

  • Apply the primer and let it dry for 24 hrs.

  • After that, mix the necessary amount of water in the paint and apply it with a brush, spray, or roller.

  • The water in the paint will evaporate as it gets applied to the surface.
