I applied for my ration card online some days back. Because in India, a ration card is an important legal document that is used to verify one's identification and address. State governments are bringing technology into ration distribution and have launched smart ration cards in accordance with digital India. The major goal of the smart ration card project is to enhance the distribution of food grains and other basic products to the poorest members of society at affordable (subsidised) rates, as well as to eliminate inefficiency in beneficiary selection. Let’s see how to apply ration card online in Tamilnadu.

Steps on how to apply new ration card online in Tamilnadu:

1) You must go to the Tamilnadu Public Distribution System's official website, http://www.tnpds.gov.in and select the preferred language.

2) Following that, you must select “Smart Card Application” from the “Smart Card Application Services” section.

3) The application form opens when you select that option. Then you must fill out all of the required information.

4) After filling out all of the information, you must attach a photo of the family's head member. The format can be png, gif, jpeg, or jpg files that are less than 10 KB in size.

5) The residency evidence can be uploaded in the following formats: png, gif, jpeg, and pdf. The file should be no more than 100 KB in size.

6) You must select the “Submit” option when all of the details have been entered and the files have been uploaded in the correct format.

7) You will be given a reference number after submitting the form. This number can also be used to verify the status of your ration card.

Steps on how to apply ration card online in AP:

1) You must visit the official website of the Government of Andhra Pradesh's Mee Seva portal at http://ap.meeseva.gov.in. 

2) If you have not already done so, then you must create an account. Name, login identifying username, e-mail ID, gender, residential address, city, and Aadhaar number must be entered for this. 

3) Log in with your Login ID and password after you've created an account. When an application is submitted, you must have all of the required documentation. 

4) You must fill out the application completely and accurately with all of the family's information.

5) You can submit the form after filling out all of the required information by selecting the submit option.

6) You will receive the transaction number after submitting the form, indicating that the process has been completed.
