It's a long-standing custom and an art form that has been passed down through the generations to arrange God images in a pooja room. It's not just about looks; it's about making a place of worship that encourages harmony and spiritual connection. Let's examine

using personal experience and a strong appreciation for this tradition.

1. Choosing the Deities:

Start by deciding which gods you want to worship. This choice is quite personal and frequently reflects the customs and values of your family. No matter which god you choose—Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, or another—their presence should support your spiritual development.

2. Deities' Positions:

Put the primary deity at the room's center for worship. This is usually the larger idol or image that is most important to you in your worship. The primary deity stands for the center of your devotion.

3. Adjoining Deities:

Smaller images or idols of the accompanying deities should be placed all around the main deity. These can be your selected "Ishta Devata" (personal deity) or other gods with whom you feel a strong bond.

4. Altar and direction:

In Hindu tradition, it is frequently advised to position the deities or pictures facing either north or east, with their faces pointing east or west. This enables the deities to be softly illuminated by the morning sunlight. To elevate the arrangement, make a little altar or "mandap."

The location of a god's idol is ultimately a very personal and spiritual decision. It ought to jive with your beliefs and customs. It is imperative that you approach this practice with respect and devotion, adhering to the rules that are important to you and your family.

  •

West and east are the 2nd best locations.

How to Arrange Idols in Pooja Room

You should place Lord Ganapati in the center. You should place female deities to the left and male deities to the right side of Ganapati. However, You should keep Lord Ganesha on the left side of the Goddess Lakshmi. Even though the northeast is usually considered the best direction to place the photos of several Gods; yet different Gods have different auspicious locations, such as:

  •

Hanuman in the northeast facing southwest, but never in the southeast as it creates a fire hazard.

  •

Bhairav, Shodas Matrika, Kuber, Durga, and Ganesh in the north direction and facing south.

  •

Surya, Indra, Kartikeya, Mahesh, Vishnu, and Brahma are placed in the east and facing towards the west.
