I wanted to add beams to our ceiling, mainly for decoration but it is something that needs an expert’s aid. I learned how to attach wood beams to ceiling from our interior experts. They followed a series of steps to attach the beams. If you have done such things before, you can do them yourself. Learn the steps here.

How to attach the wooden beams to the ceiling?

In order to attach the wooden beams to the ceiling, you will first need to

  • Acquire the necessary materials, including beams, screws, a drill, a level, and a stud finder.

  • Use the stud finder to locate the ceiling joists where you want to attach the beams. Mark their positions.

  • Then measure and cut the wood beams to the desired length. Be sure that they fit the space and align with the joist locations.

  • Drill pilot holes in the beams at the marked joist locations to prevent splitting when attaching.

  • Lift the beams into position, aligning them with the pilot holes, and use screws to attach them securely to the ceiling joists.

  • Use a level to ensure the beams are straight and level.

If you want, you can cover visible screw holes with wood filler, sand, and stain or paint the beams as desired.

How to make ceiling beams look like wood?

If you want to make ceiling beams look like wood, simply paint them a wooden colour. You can also cover them up with faux wood beams or planks made from lightweight, realistic-looking materials like polyurethane foam or MDF.
