Hi,

As per my knowledge, over 95.1 lakh connections have been registered and provided in 11 states as of this writing thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which was introduced and received widespread support. No rural or below-poverty-line (BPL) individual or family would be required to resort to cooking using wood, charcoal, cow manure, or other harmful fuel sources thanks to the Yojana, which was designed to prevent this.

Follow the answer below to understand the eligibility criteria, documents required and the process to avail free cylinder under the Yojana.

Pay all your utility bills online via NoBroker using your credit card and earn cashback.

Eligibility Criteria for Ujjwala Yojana

Applicants must be female and older than 18 in order to qualify for the government's subsidised or free LPG hookups.

  • Registered with the relevant State Government as a BPL household, family, or unit.

  • To prevent duplication and improper administration, be registered and included in the SECC-2011 data (Rural).

  • For an active LPG connection that is not registered.

Documents Required to Get a Free or Discounted LPG Cylinder Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The list of paperwork that can be presented to the LPG distributorship in order to register and receive a free or discounted LPG cylinder is provided below:

  • The Municipality Chairman or Panchayat Pradhan has authorised the BPL Certificate (below poverty line certificate).

  • The BPL Ration Card

  • ID with a photo

  • Paper proving your address

  • Registration papers for a house

  • A photo the size of a passport

There is a form that needs to be completed, and you may get it from the LPG distribution centre.

How to Get Free LPG Connection for Below Poverty Line (BPL) Families?

To maintain openness and support for this programme, the State Governments and Union Territories have made a list of BPL households accessible online and to the central register.

Whether they live in a rural or urban location, an individual who is currently registered as BPL may bring their BPL card to the closest LPG distributorship and sign up for a free or subsidised LPG cylinder, depending on the situation.

A security deposit of Rs. 1,450 for the 14.2-kilogramme cylinder and Rs. 150 for the pressure regulator are included in the governmental discount of Rs. 1,600. The programme also stipulates that BPL homes will receive a gas stove and an ISI standard pipe at a steep discount.

The very same BPL demographic can also get a 5 kg cylinder, which costs Rs 161 and can be used and filled 34 times annually.

I hope now you understand the entire process clearly.
